First session of E&E looking at trends vs. Fads- what are they?? My first thought was a Fad is short lived and a trend is a longer term thing- trends transfer and travel between different disciplines from art to music to technology. The film 'Black Swan' is an example of this as it inspired key trends such as nude/ballerina chic and lace/leather in fashion.

Trends I was coming up with were mainly fashion trends such as colour blocking and sports luxe, started to think of trends that cross over such as sustainability- in architecture/interior/fashion.


Put into groups for project work- discussing trends to market a product to- meet a trend with a need. Thinking about how social trends can affect a product. Maybe explore subtrends?!?
